Questions Answered

Q: Where are you located?
A:   Our studio is located in Lawrenceville. For more info click here.
Q: What style of salsa do you teach?
A:  LA Style salsa.
Q: Can I bring a friend or family member with me to just one class?
A:   Sure! Bring your guests to class. The drop-in rate for a class is only $14 per person. You can pay online here.
Q: Would group classes or personal lessons be better for me?
A:  Personal lessons are for individuals or couples wanting to receive 100% of the instructors personal attention.  If you are looking to learn with friends or meet new people, then specialty and group classes would probably be the best fit for you.  We also recognize that costs are an important factor and that is why we strive very hard to keep the cost of our group classes as low as possible. We want to try and give everyone the opportunity to have fun dancing!
Q: Do you offer make-up classes for the group classes?
A: Yes, we understand that you have a busy life and other things sometimes get in the way of your dance classes. We offer you the flexibility to make-up any classes that you miss in all of our ongoing group classes.  Please be aware that we do not offer make-up classes for private group classes, specialty classes, or classes that are not ongoing, or held at an unusual location, such as at a park location.  However, these special situations are unlikely to apply to you as nearly all of our class offerings allow make-ups, but please feel free to ask us if you're unsure.
Q: How long are your lessons?
A: Lessons are one full hour (60 minutes).  However, personal lessons, private group classes, and parties can be scheduled to fit your needs and adjusted to meet the length of time that suits you best.
Q: Can you come to my location for lessons or a party?
A:  Yes.  As a service, we offer the option of coming to you to teach lessons to couples or party guests at special events.  This option is not available to all customers and prices vary by location and other circumstances related to your particular request.  Contact us for a quote today.  See our special events page.
Q: What should I wear?
A: Dress comfortably, casual to dressy.  Most men wear shorts, jeans, or slacks.  Ladies the same or a skirt or dress.   Please do not wear work out clothes.  See the next faq for what shoes you should wear.
Q: What type of shoes should I wear?
A: Please avoid wearing flip-flops or heavy boots.  Other than that, wear any shoes that you feel comfortable in.  Something with a soft sole (leather or suede) is best.  Sneakers are okay.  For the ladies, we recommend a heel.  For the more advanced student, you may want to consider buying dance shoes.  For wedding couples, we recommend wearing the shoes you'll be dancing in at your wedding, or something similar.
Q: How do I know what dances I should learn?
A: If all you know is that you are interested in dancing, but you don't know anything about dancing yet, that's fine!  We'll help you figure out what dances will be the best for you.  Factors such as, what kinds of music you enjoy, where you see yourself going out dancing, and the specific reasons you're taking classes or lessons are among those that are considered. For wedding couples, the dance style is tailored to your song choice for your First Dance, Father-Daughter, or Mother-Son dance.
Q: Do I have to purchase more than one personal lesson at a time?
A:  No, you can pay as you go.  We do offer discounts on personal lessons if you purchase a block of lessons in advance.  Please see our personal lessons page for details.
Q: How long will it take me to learn to be a good dancer?
A: This is a frequently asked question, but we don't have a precise answer for you because you are unique! We recognize that everyone learns at a different pace and we've found that individual opinions as to what constitutes a "good dancer" varies widely amongst our diverse student base. The short answer is, you will be dancing in your first class or lesson and you will continue to improve your dancing for as long as you'd like to take classes or personal lessons. I'd encourage you to continue taking classes or personal lessons for as long as you're having a good time! The rewards are numerous: exercise, stress relief, meeting people, keeping your brain and body active, and of course... it's a lot of fun!
Q: What if I need to cancel or reschedule a lesson?
A:  No problem, as long as you notify us at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled lesson.  This just represents another way we try to excel at providing you with a superior customer service experience.  However, if you are unable to provide us with at least a 24 hour notice, then please be aware that you will be assessed a $40 cancellation fee.  Please contact us directly to discuss your particular situation if you want to have the fee waived or reduced.  We think it's important for you to understand that our actual costs can easily exceed the $40 assessment, and so we encourage you to notify us as soon as possible. We really don't want anyone to be assessed the $40 fee; it's not good for you and it's not good for us. Thank you so much for your understanding and cooperation.
